BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE
In the School of Tomorrow® system, maintaining and upgrading the quality and vitality of schools is given much importance that a Quality of Model Status certification program is offered every school year with benefits and recognition earned through spiritual, academic, technical, and overall excellence (A.C.E. Administration Manual, 2012, p.130). Attainment of a model status is attributed to school staff members effectively motivating students, the school faithfully following the Procedures Manual, and operating a high-quality school.
The MODEL SCHOOL STATUS program of SOT®P was first implemented in June of 2010 and served as a discounting scheme based on a school’s status categorized into two – Supervised and Certified.
For the purpose of having an objective quality status evaluation, a validating process for the School Assistance Visit Review Form was started in 2019 with the following primary objectives:
• To reduce bias and ambiguities
• To provide better quality data and credible information
With a validated School Assistance Visit Review Form, the Model School Status Evaluation Form validation followed for consistency and objectivity. Based on the results of the Factor Analysis and Scale Transformation done in January of 2020, it was highly recommended that the Model School Status Evaluation Forms and Guidelines be revised.
The management of the School of Tomorrow®, Philippines then met with the Field Consultants and discussed the revised guidelines and requirements of these two categories. Each requirement was carefully deliberated with the best interests of our schools in mind.
PROGRAM GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The goal of the School of Tomorrow® Philippines Model School Status program is to motivate schools to move beyond the minimum standards of the system and assist them in complying and maintaining a higher standard. Full adherence to the “non-negotiables” of the A.C.E. School of Tomorrow® system is the foundation of the Model School Status program.
MODEL SCHOOL STATUS PRE-REQUISITE
The pre-qualifying visit for any Model School Status application is the School Assistance Visit Review that will be conducted by the Field Consultant of the area.
